Big Bass

Big Bass is one of those games I opened expecting five minutes and ended up playing for an hour. You tap to cast, watch the line, and pull back at the right moment when a fish bites. Sounds simple, and it is, but there's a real rhythm to reading the water and knowing when to wait.

The controls are the highlight for me. Everything is one thumb — hold to cast, tap to set the hook, drag gently to keep the line from snapping. Bigger fish fight harder, so you learn to ease off instead of yanking. It never got fiddly, even on a smaller screen.

What surprised me was how calming it all felt. The lakes change with the time of day, the sound design is quiet and pleasant, and there's no pressure to rush. It's the kind of game I keep coming back to when I want to switch my brain off for a while.
