What actually makes an indie mobile game worth your time

What actually makes an indie mobile game worth your time

I download a lot of games and delete most within a day. Over time I've figured out what separates the keepers from the clutter, and it's rarely the flashy screenshot.

First, does it respect my time? The best small games load fast, get me playing quickly, and let me stop cleanly. Anything that fights me on leaving loses me for good.

Second, one strong idea beats ten weak ones. Lantern Hollow's lantern, Gridlock Gardens' sliding tiles — each is built around a single clever hook and trusts it. That focus is where indie teams shine.

Third, honesty in the design. No dark patterns, no manufactured urgency. When a small studio just makes the game they wanted to make, you feel it, and those are the ones that end up on our home screens for months.
